Who Sings and Who Crawls?

What birds are singing outside your window, what insects are in your backyard, what breeds of dogs your neighbours have.

Get ready for a thrilling nature quest with our “Who Sings, Who Crawls?” activity! This engaging challenge encourages young adventurers to explore their gardens or local green spaces, seeking out various birds and insects. With a detailed checklist in hand, kids can identify and tick off each feathered singer and crawling critter they encounter. It’s a fantastic way to connect with nature, learn about local wildlife, and enjoy the wonders of the outdoors. Dive into the world of birds and bugs, and see how many fascinating creatures you can discover right around your home!

Complete the trail and receive your Who Sings and Who Crawls reward sticker. Don’t forget to fill your Heritage Passport, the more activities you complete, the more stickers you are rewarded.

How it works?

  1. Download and print the below checklist before you begin exploring your garden for things that sing and crawl. No printer? No problem, why not create your own checklist by drawing out boxes like the checklist below?
  2. Go to your backyard or a local green space. This can be any public place near your home. You could visit Congleton Park, Congleton Community Garden, or Congleton Bath House and Physic Garden.
  3. Mark the insects and birds you see on your checklist. Please be kind to nature, refrain from damaging habitats and respect the wildlife around you.
  4. Add a drawing and the name of the insect or bird you saw in the blank spaces of the checklist.
  5. Bring the sheet to Congleton Museum and get a sticker for your Heritage Passport
