Volunteer Meeting for the project Our Disappearing Nature
Exciting Opportunity to Get Involved with Congleton Museum
Are you passionate about nature and the environment? Do you want to make a real difference in documenting and preserving the plant species in our area? Congleton Museum is launching an exciting new project, Our Disappearing Nature!, and we need volunteers like you to help us make it a success!
With generous funding from The Royal Society, this project will engage our local community in a comprehensive survey of the plants growing in and around Congleton. Our goal is to build an extensive catalogue of current local flora and compare our findings with historical data from 1915, collected by Reverend G. Cartlidge. By contributing, you’ll help us understand how our local environment is changing and support vital local climate action.
What’s Involved?
Volunteers can take on a variety of exciting roles, including:
- Collecting plant specimens from local areas
- Working with our plant database to record findings
- Engaging with the local community and encouraging participation
- Creating and running workshops at schools to inspire the next generation of nature lovers
- Promoting the project through local campaigns
- Telling stories about local plants through the museum’s website and social media
Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a local resident, or part of a community group, there’s a way for everyone to contribute and make a meaningful impact. We’re especially keen to get schools involved, to engage children and young people in the wonders of the natural world!
Why Volunteer?
- Help us safeguard our local plants and contribute to environmental conservation
- Learn more about local flora and deepen your knowledge of nature
- Be part of a team working together for the future of our area
- Make a difference by preserving knowledge for future generations
We’re looking for people who are enthusiastic, curious, and keen to get outdoors and discover the nature on our doorstep!
Don’t miss out – join us in documenting and celebrating the beauty of our local plants!
