What Plants Grow Here?

The plant world around us is honeycombed with different species. Go on a hunt for them!

Embark on an exciting botanical adventure with our “What Plants Grow Here?” activity! This fun and educational challenge invites young explorers to delve into their gardens or local green spaces, searching for various flowers and plants. Equipped with a handy checklist, identify and tick off each plant you discover. It’s a wonderful way to connect with nature, learn about local flora, and enjoy the great outdoors. Get ready to become a plant detective and see what amazing greenery you can find right in your own backyard!

Complete the challenge and receive your What Plants Grow Here reward sticker. Don’t forget to fill your Heritage Passport, the more activities you complete, the more stickers you are rewarded.

How it works?

  1. Download and print the below checklist before you start exploring. No printer? No problem, you can make your own! Simply draw what plants you see in your garden or local green space and ask a grown up to help you identify their names.
  2. Go to your backyard or another place where you can find lots of different plants. This can be any public place near your home. You could also visit Congleton Park, Congleton Community Garden, or Congleton Bath House and Physic Garden. Please don’t pick any plants or flowers, even weeds!
  3. Mark down the plants you find on the checklist.
  4. Add a drawing and the name of any other plants you know in the blank cells of the sheet.
  5. Bring the sheet to Congleton Museum and get a sticker for your Heritage Passport.
