Discover a summer of fun with Congleton Museum’s Town Expeditions festival, featuring 4 new trails, 9 challenges and 2 events – there’s something for the whole family.
This summer, step back in time and embark on an exhilarating journey to learn about the history of Congleton. Town Expeditions, a six-week long festival during the summer holidays comprises 4 new trails, 4 explore challenges, 5 create challenges and 2 events. This immersive event invites adventurers of all ages to delve into the past and uncover secrets of the town, you might just stumble across stories you’ve never heard of before!
Stickers are rewarded for participating in activities (trails and challenges), the more activities you complete, the more stickers you’ll get – until your passport is completed!
You can collect trails, Heritage Passports and activity stickers from the museum.
Trails
There are four trails to complete. Both the Architecture and Planning and Art and Design trails focus on the town centre, the Nature and Vegetation trail is contained within the Bath House and Physic Garden and the History and Archaeology trail focusses on the main exhibition and the museums collection.

Art in the Garden
Part of the Town Expeditions event, drop in with your own art materials and sit on the grass, painting the nature around you with fellow artists. Refreshments will be on sale to raise money for Congleton Museum and Congleton Bath House and Physic Garden.

Part of the Town Expeditions event, explore and experience the rich heritage of our community through various cultural displays and activities. 0+
Further information
Set against the backdrop of our charming town, the festival offers four distinct historical trails, created by young people – for young people and by volunteers of Congleton Museum. Each trail explores different historical themes connected to Congleton.
The passport and four trails have been part-funded by the Margaret Williamson Memorial Fund. We thank our funder for the opportunity to engage young people with Congleton Museum over the summer holidays.

Congleton Museum is closed on Mondays. Opening Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 10.30am – 4.15pm and Sunday 12.pm – 4.15pm. If you plan to complete one of the 3 town trails on a Monday, please make sure you have collected them during museum opening hours.
