Description
In the first of two booklets the author looks at the way in which the various streams and waterways which traverse the town have impacted upon its development. The geological and geographical context is reviewed, with specific reference being given to the River Dane and the way in which it has been harnessed as a source of power. The impact of the town’s man-made waterway, the Macclesfield Canal, is also examined.
