In this booklet the author examines how Congleton prepared for the war, welcomed evacuees, welcomed soldiers from the Netherlands and the United States as well British Territorial soldiers and the Royal Artillery, managed rationing, raised funds for the war effort, saw its many mills transition to war production and celebrate final victory.
