Civil War

From a cannon ball stuck inside a stone from Biddulph Old Hall, to buried treasure found in Priesty Fields, Congleton was a prominent during the Civil War Period.

Silver coins from the Priesty Hoard, highlighting a rare Irish Ormond in the centre. Dated between 1643/5. The Priesty Hoard is currently on display at the museum.
Cannon Ball found in stone from Biddulph Old Hall. The hall was sieged during the English Civil War in 1644 and brought to ruin.
